Are you feelin’ that island breeze? Can you hear the calm sound of the waves lapping at the shore? I’m trying! A tropical vacation sounds soooo good but staying-put is what’s going on here. Relaxing into this quarantine isn’t super easy but getting some green in the house helps a little. The best kind of green is live plants, naturally. (oh wait, maybe it’s money) Ok, the best kind to decorate with…. Next best, green fabrics. It is the most calming color, ya know.
I designed my Hilo collection with my favorite shades of green in varying scales and patterns so layering them in my living room would be easy. You can have tons of pattern in your room but it’s not overwhelming when all the fabrics are in the same color zone. You can still get that sense of peace and calm but with a little boost of energy from modern pattern to make it fun and interesting.
Hilo was my design direction pattern. Set the mood. Then, I started working on patterns that would layer with it nicely. Sometimes I paint, sometimes I use colored pencils, charcoal, just depends on how I’m feeling. Sometimes I’m not feeling it, so it all sits for a few days while I work on something else.

But eventually it comes together and I do love how this collection gelled.

The real deal will have to wait, however, as all is on pause. But eventually some pillows in Kapa will go on my very cool Oly Scout chairs.
Which will go next to my green ceramic stool. Mine is a little different than this one, but this one is nice.

If you’ve got the light and can find a real Sago Palm that’s small enough, awesome. If something pretending to be real is what you need, I love everything from NDI. Stick this palm in a lovely textured basket.

I just can’t wait to live in this room!!! May not be until June. Meanwhile, the creativity keeps coming!
Stay safe everyone.
All my love!
