More and more I’m clearing the energy in my house. It’s not that it’s bad – it just could use a little lift sometimes. I would say a good clearing is pretty essential when you’re working from home. Mostly I’ve been burning sage. I love the smell and the calming effect it has for me. It’s especially nice to clear my workspace before I sit down to create.
I was reading up on the different types of herbs used for smudges and their properties. Lavender it seems is good for happiness and tranquility. Well now, who doesn’t need more of that! I have a little growing in the yard, so I’m making my own. You’re supposed to use hemp or cotton string but cooking string will have to do today cuz that’s all I have in the drawer. It takes a couple weeks to dry so up on the kitchen shelf it goes.

In the mean time I’ll keep using my sage bundle and Palo Santo. Abalone shells also have special properties. They are nice to hold under the burning herbs to catch any ash. Set your intention, light the sage and move around your room or home, fanning the smoke as you go.

Extinguish in a little bowl of rice.

There are lots and lots of smudge sets sold on Etsy. This one from South Bay Salts (Southern CA) is really pretty. What a nice gift this would be for those feeling stressed at home. The stick of wood is Palo Santo. If you have never smelled it, you must get some!

This little chart is nice. (Via Pinterest)

Lavender has always been one of my very favorite fragrances and flowers. This print captures its simplicity and a sense of calm.

Enjoy your peaceful places 🙂
