Last week I spent some time perusing the fun antique shops in Soquel. Some of the shops are so wonderfully curated and although I’m not a huge fan of using too much vintage in decorating I do believe a couple of pieces go a long way to getting that collected look. I saw quite a few statuettes and busts which I think are lovely for adding a little classicism to California spaces. Then I ran across this article in House Beautiful with this image and there she was, another lovely bust. This photo was taken at The Huntress. Looks like a “must” place to visit the next time I’m in NY!
Here are some of the busts and statuettes I saw in Soquel (just South of Santa Cruz). These I found at Center Street Antiques but there are lots of shops in the area.
With the bust serving as my inspiration I added some modern touches with my new Canna print and a couple of favorite furniture pieces for this week’s True Vignette.
The combination of something old (or old-looking) with more modern elements is so appealing and interesting, or better yet, surprising!
Here are the pieces I’ve included in this True Vignette.
CANNA – a new chevron print with a modern island feel. 4 color ways: Caribe, Indie, Sage, Cocoa. Printed on a sheer fabric would be really beautiful and romantic draped over the tulip-shaped table. I love the idea of seeing the silhouette of the table under the fabric. Subtle, breezy, romantic. Usually this comes on a linen fabric but I can print this design on anything from a sheer to a blackout fabric. Just ask!
This mirror is so stunning. Each mirror panel is individually antiqued and hand set to create subtle variations in reflectivity. Old world elegance that goes anywhere!
The quality of this rope table is just wonderful. Well made with perfect proportions. A great choice for any entry.
NDI makes some of the most beautiful faux arrangements. If you can’t do fresh, this is the next best thing.
Of course nothing says romance like candles!
Thanks for your visit!
